Job description
For our client in Antwerp we are hiring a Welding Inspector.
As a Welding Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring all welding activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications. You will play a key role in maintaining the structural integrity and safety of critical plant equipment and piping systems.
• Inspect welded joints and materials to ensure compliance with industry standards (ASME, API, AWS) and project-specific requirements.
• Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
• Conduct visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) such as PT, UT, MT, and RT (in collaboration with certified NDT personnel).
• Document inspection results, prepare reports, and maintain accurate quality records.
• Monitor pre-welding, welding, and post-welding operations to ensure proper execution.
• Work closely with project engineers, construction teams, and third-party inspectors.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions when weld-related issues arise.
• Promote and ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
Your qualifications
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI, CSWIP, or equivalent) is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding inspection, preferably in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Familiarity with codes such as ASME and relevant API standards.
• Strong understanding of various welding processes (GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and isometric diagrams.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
