Job description
For a company in Zeeland we are looking for a Data Governance & Quality Lead.
As the Data Governance & Quality Lead, you will play a crucial role in shaping and enforcing the core policies, standards, and processes that guarantee data accuracy, consistency, security, and usability throughout its lifecycle. Your expertise will support data owners in defining quality dimensions and managing data stewards effectively. Working closely with diverse stakeholders, you will tackle complex data issues and drive continuous improvement in data management practices. Your leadership will ensure dependable analytics and informed decisions, essential for designing next-generation vessels and optimizing operations.

• Establish and maintain clear data ownership, define quality rules, create risk profiles, ensure robust security, and manage data definitions in line with governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, supply chain teams, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver precise definitions and documentation for better decision-making.
• Monitor critical data metrics, assist stewards in validating and cleansing datasets, and proactively resolve errors to maintain accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards while identifying and mitigating risks such as breaches, misuse, and non-compliance.
• Provide training and guidance to end-users on resolving data quality issues and implementing best practices.
• Stay informed about emerging tools and technologies, explore innovative methods to improve data quality, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Document processes, methodologies, and insights for knowledge sharing across the organization.
Your qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or a related discipline, with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 3 years in program or project management, preferably within data governance, data quality,
or large-scale data transformation initiatives.• Strong knowledge of data management principles, governance frameworks, and regulatory compliance
(e.g., GDPR, ISO standards).• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies, ideally adapted for Industry 4.0 and systems engineering, with proven success in process development and optimization.
• Experience in maritime, defense, or related sectors is highly desirable, combined with a strong engineering mindset.
• Technical proficiency in BI reporting systems and data analysis tools.
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken); Dutch is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel internationally when required.
• Ability to provide strong references, as security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are mandatory. Candidates holding NL/EU work visas or dual EU/non-EU nationality are not eligible due to the military nature of the projects.
