Voor onze opdrachtgever in de omgeving Amsterdam zijn wij op zoek naar een Chapter Lead – Data Science & NLP/LLM.
Are you a data science leader with deep expertise in NLP and a passion for people development? This is your opportunity to lead a high-performing team of Data Scientists while also contributing hands-on to impactful machine learning and language model projects. As Chapter Lead – Data Science, you’ll combine technical vision, delivery ownership, and people leadership within a global, agile analytics environment.
As Chapter Lead, you play a dual role. On the one hand, you are a people manager, responsible for the development, performance, and engagement of your chapter members. On the other, you actively contribute to project delivery as an experienced Data Scientist with deep expertise in NLP and Generative AI.
You collaborate closely with other Chapter Leads, Product Leads, and the Tribe Lead to allocate resources, define capability needs, and ensure the consistent development of data science craftmanship, particularly in the areas of LLMs and LLMOps.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Lead and coach a team of Data Scientists, guiding their career growth and technical development
✅ Contribute hands-on to the development and operationalisation of LLM/NLP/IR models
✅ Collaborate with Tribe and Product Leads on global backlog delivery and team capacity planning
✅ Steer capability development in areas like Natural Language Processing and LLMOps
✅ Define technical objectives and hold team members accountable for results
✅ Ensure craftsmanship across your chapter through knowledge-sharing and mentoring
✅ Attract and retain top talent by leading interviews and onboarding processes
✅ Work collaboratively on (global) analytics initiatives and backlog execution
✅ Promote best practices in Agile, DevOps, and ML delivery pipelines

Your qualifications
You are an inspiring leader and a highly skilled Data Scientist with hands-on experience in NLP, machine learning, and cloud-native model deployment. You enjoy working in complex, fast-moving environments and know how to empower your team to excel — technically and professionally.Required Skills and Experience
• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, NLP, Machine Learning, or related field
• 4+ years of experience in NLP, IR, or Generative AI (LLM operationalisation experience is a must)
• Strong knowledge of CRFs, Transformers, CNNs, RNNs, and related algorithms
• Proven experience building production-ready ML pipelines (including NLP components)
• Management experience in Agile teams (matrix environments is a plus)
• Track record in resource planning, analytics delivery, and team leadership
• Excellent stakeholder communication and technical writing skills
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Nice-to-Have Skills
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Background in applying NLP in the banking/finance sector
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, Git and ML deployment workflows
• Knowledge of CD4ML (Continuous Delivery for Machine Learning)
• Experience with traditional ML algorithms

• Competitive monthly salary: €6.176 – €9.871 based on experience
