Job description
As Subdepartment Manager for Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and guiding the Systems Engineering team to ensure the efficient and successful delivery of complex engineering solutions. This role involves overseeing the management of people, resources, processes, and tools, all while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and strategic alignment with broader engineering objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Overseeing the planning and allocation of resources within the Systems Engineering group to ensure the right expertise is available for project teams and ensuring optimal deployment across projects.
Ensuring that line management activities are executed in accordance with project timelines, quality requirements, and financial constraints.
Cultivating internal and external relationships to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders and suppliers, driving alignment towards common strategic goals.
Measuring and improving team performance across all aspects of the group, fostering a productive and high-functioning work environment.
Recommending improvements to operational plans, processes, and policies to meet business objectives, with a focus on long-term goals, and bringing innovative ideas to enhance departmental operations and methodology.
Supporting proposal review processes and participating in cross-functional design reviews with project teams and external partners.
Contributing to ongoing process evaluations and improvements, and ensuring the development, transfer, and retention of critical knowledge within the department.
Your qualifications
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
At least 10 years of experience in engineering, with a focus on integrating complex systems, preferably in mechanical or maritime engineering for new shipbuilding projects.
Strong background in management principles, including financial and contract management.
Proficiency in both Dutch and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Positive references and a willingness to undergo a pre-employment security screening, as this is a standard part of the recruitment process.
Permanent EU citizenship and an EU work visa are mandatory due to the nature of the projects, which may involve sensitive military work.
