An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Specialist to join our research and technology support team. This group plays an essential role in advancing innovation, supporting modern technology, and offering expert advice on shipbuilding projects. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing specialized knowledge in preservation, welding, and adhesive technologies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and supporting both the production and proposal phases of projects.

As a technical expert, you will offer guidance on a variety of engineering disciplines, contribute to research activities, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders. Your expertise will be crucial in establishing standards and managing complex projects across various operations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and evaluate contractual specifications related to preservation, welding, and adhesives for maritime projects.
Develop technical specifications and instructions based on contract documents and classification requirements, ensuring seamless execution during production.
Oversee and manage ISO 3834 welding activities, providing advice on corrosion prevention and bonding techniques for both primary and secondary structures.
Work in close collaboration with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and engineers to ensure smooth project execution and compliance with technical standards.
Lead research initiatives and offer technical guidance on preservation, welding, and bonding across various projects.
Ensure compliance with all regulations and policies, while establishing clear operational protocols for internal and external stakeholders.
Conduct internal audits, facilitate third-party inspections, and prepare compliance reports for both internal and external parties.
Support design reviews and oversee quality engineering during production, ensuring deliverables meet agreed timelines and budgets.
Actively contribute to the development of innovative solutions in the fields of preservation, welding, and adhesives.
Play an integral role in knowledge transfer and help continuously improve departmental processes and tools.

Your qualifications

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in corrosion protection technology, materials science, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as FROSIO painting, IWE welding, or alternatively an IWT welding certificate.
Experience working in complex project environments, preferably in shipbuilding or a closely related industry.
Strong communication skills with experience collaborating with research institutes, universities, engineers, and project managers.
A structured, decisive, and problem-solving mindset, with a strong affinity for the maritime industry.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Excellent references, as pre-employment security screening is a standard part of the recruitment process.
Permanent EU citizenship and passport are required. Candidates with an EU work visa or those holding dual nationality (EU and non-EU) are not eligible due to the specific security requirements of the projects.
