Job description
As the Team Lead for Automation, you will oversee the engineering efforts related to automation within our naval shipbuilding projects. Your responsibilities will begin in the proposal phase, where you'll be tasked with structuring the project’s work breakdown and planning. Leading a team of Automation Engineers, you will guide them through the project’s execution to ensure high-quality and timely engineering deliverables. Throughout the project, you will report directly to the Project Manager Engineering and will be accountable for maintaining the desired quality and meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
As the Team Lead for Automation, your key duties will include:
Leading a team of Electrical & Automation engineers.
Providing guidance and coaching to ensure compliance with internal standards.
Creating work breakdown structures and assigning budgets.
Ensuring timely delivery of engineering outputs to the Project Manager Engineering.
Managing relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure on-time contributions.
Coordinating design checks and reviews to guarantee quality assurance.
Assessing the technical performance of vendors and subcontractors.
Collaborating with the Purchase department to analyze and evaluate technical offers.
Monitoring the man-hour budget and reporting project progress.
Overseeing technical support and commissioning activities.
Ensuring adherence to class and customer requirements.
Your qualifications
5+ years of experience designing complex electrical and automation systems within shipbuilding, offshore, or maritime sectors.
Proven experience working in large-scale, complex project environments.
Leadership experience managing engineering teams (up to 10 people).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Technical Automation, or a related field.
Project Management experience with the ability to manage and deliver work packages on time.
Familiarity with class-regulated products and adherence to Good Engineering Practices.
Strong command of English (written and verbal); knowledge of German is a plus.
Excellent references; pre-employment security screening will be required.
Permanent EU citizenship and passport required. Candidates with an EU work visa or dual EU/non-EU nationality and/or passport cannot be considered due to the nature of the projects.
