Senior Integration Engineer Marine Systems

For our client in Schiedam we are hiring a Senior Automation Engineer Marine Systems.

Job description

In this role, you will be instrumental in defining system configurations and ensuring the seamless integration of components as you work on the development of cutting-edge new vessels and the enhancement of existing ones. Your collaboration will span multiple disciplines, supporting the complete lifecycle of naval projects, from initial proposals and acquisition through to production and testing.

Key Accountabilities

Engaging in the proposal phase by defining and selecting viable marine system configurations and components.
Establishing functional technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors, based on customer and design requirements.
Conducting technical evaluations of supplier quotations in close partnership with the purchasing department.
Ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements by collaborating with suppliers during technical discussions, adhering to agreed schedules, quality, and cost constraints.
Collecting and reviewing engineering information and documentation from suppliers, including mechanical drawings, schematics, calculations, and electrical diagrams.
Actively pursuing interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure solutions align with the project's overall objectives.
Implementing enhancements for the integration of delivered components and systems into the ship’s design and other marine systems, in close coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Assisting in the drafting of technical and functional specification documents, including System Description Statements and installation procedures.
Independently verifying the technical performance of products and systems through dynamic simulations and inspections at supplier facilities, as well as during installation onboard.
Occasionally providing technical support during Sea Trials, HAT, and SAT at the building site.
Maintaining strong working relationships with technical representatives from suppliers and customers.
Coaching colleagues and participating in design checks and reviews to ensure the required quality standards are met.
Contributing to evaluation processes and fostering the continuous improvement of knowledge transfer and retention within the department.

Your qualifications

To excel as a Senior Integration Engineer for Marine Systems, you should possess:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, along with a minimum of three years of experience in marine systems, preferably within naval shipbuilding, offshore, or commercial sectors.
A proven history of managing complex projects, including engagement with regulatory bodies, third-party vendors, and subcontractors.
Strong skills in customer orientation, focus on results and quality, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.
Fluency in both Dutch and English, in written and verbal communication.
Excellent references, as a pre-employment security screening is part of the recruitment process, given the project's military nature.
