Senior Buyer

For our client in Ghent we are hiring a Senior Buyer.

Job description

The Capex, projects and revamps department is part of the purchasing organisation and deals with capital expenditure, project purchases and innovations for several European factories.
To help realize the decarbonization projects, we are looking for a buyer.

As a buyer capex projects, your main responsibilities are:
Drafting and negotiating contracts in accordance with the user's expectations in terms of the quality of material and services, timelines, etc.
Handling the capex purchasing process in coordination with the project manager, the main buyer and the team, from the early determination of the purchasing strategy to the completion of the contract execution.
Determining the right purchasing strategy (turnkey, draw, etc.).
Selecting suitable suppliers for the tender process.
You check synergies and bundle project negotiations with other project buyers or purchasing managers if possible.
Performing cost analyses and benchmarks on your project to submit an optimal solution for the project.
Managing the tender process and guarantee the handling of quotations, the technical evaluation, the shortlist of the best offers regarding quality, availability and TCO.
Ensuring compliance with the timetable of the tender process, the regulations, and the negotiations on the contract.
Leading the final negotiations for an optimized contract with maximum purchasing performance and TCO.
Designing the contract, aligned with the general terms and conditions for investment purchases.
Ensuring the approval of the negotiation results according to the site guidelines.
Appling the Quality Management Policy and objectives within your area of responsibility.
Sharing your knowledge from previous experiences with the team.
Coördinating the larger purchasing activities in the context of your project with Capital goods/the corporate purchasing organization.
Coördinating the evaluation process of the suppliers in your area of responsibility and report to management.
Taking care of the handling of claims.

Your qualifications

You have a master's degree in a technical or economic direction or equivalent through experience.
Knowledge of technology (engineering, electricity, mechanics) so that you can properly estimate the quality and completeness of the quotations.
At least 3 years of experience and preferably as a buyer or in project management.
Knowledge of or experience in project management (e.g. PMBOK or CIPM or similar).
You are bilingual Dutch-English. Knowledge of French is a plus.
Your communication skills make you a good team player and you are commercially inclined.
MS Office has few secrets for you and preferably you can also handle SAP.
You are analytical, very precise in terms of administration and procedures to follow and are willing to regularly do short company trips (maximum duration 1 week).
It’s a plus if you also have Mining & Metal sector knowledge.
