Quantity surveyors
The Quantity Surveyor performs ‘quantitative surveys’ on the operational Unit Rate contracts. The Quantity Surveyor thus checks contractors for the consistent and professional application of the contract across the entire site and across all disciplines. The Quantity Surveyor influences the attitude and behaviour of the contractors. In this way, the Quantity Surveyor contributes to creating a correct and positive work environment between the plant owner and the contractors.
The tasks of a Quantity Surveyor include:
- Supporting purchasing by submitting requests for quotes from contractors;
- Supporting the Project Leader in assessing contracts entered into with contractors;
- After submission by the contractors, checking the budget and/or the settlement for accuracy and for compliance with the contractual arrangements previously made;
- Checking the accuracy of extra work/less work during the projects;
- Creating reports for the management on any deviations found in the budget and/or settlement submitted by the contractor;
- Regularly checking that contracts and appointments are up-to-date and whether they need to be adapted to accommodate changing situations.
