As a Vulnerability Technical Expert, you will be instrumental in the research, advisory, and engineering efforts within specialized fields related to design, proposals, and project execution. Your extensive expertise will drive forward the development and application of key concepts in vulnerability reduction, directly impacting the advancement of shipbuilding technology. Known for your proficiency and credibility, you will be an essential part of a close-knit team of experts working on R&D, engineering, and proposal tasks, including performance verification during key project stages such as FAT, HAT, and SAT.
Your primary responsibility will be to enhance the survivability of naval vessels through intelligent system designs and the integration of cutting-edge technologies that mitigate vulnerability to various threats. This multidisciplinary role involves close collaboration with other design teams focusing on mechanical, electrical, structural, and layout considerations.
In the early design phase, you will evaluate options and perform trade-off analyses to determine the most effective system layout. During the engineering phase, you will assess the vessel’s resilience, contributing to decisions aimed at risk reduction. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing design controls during the detailed engineering stage. Additionally, you will investigate and develop innovative technological solutions, applying both practical experience and academic research.
Key Responsibilities
Contributing to the Research & Development, Proposals, and Engineering teams by developing, reviewing, and advising on key project deliverables such as management plans, technical reports, calculations, simulations, technical specifications, and test protocols for complex naval or offshore projects.
Supporting Verification and Validation activities during the production or as part of research initiatives.
Actively advancing your area of expertise and promoting your findings in relevant projects.
Participating in design reviews, delivering high-quality engineering work that meets deadlines, quality standards, and budget parameters.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant technical requirements and specifications.
Continuously evaluating and improving internal processes, tools, and knowledge sharing within the department.
Je profiel
A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, with at least one year of relevant professional experience.
Expertise in specialized areas such as system design, vulnerability mitigation, or signature reduction for naval vessels or offshore structures.
Experience in vulnerability reduction and system design in complex project environments is a significant advantage.
Strong communication skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively with research institutes, universities, engineers, and project managers in the naval shipbuilding or related sectors.
Proficiency in both Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
Solid references, as a security screening is a standard part of the hiring process.
Candidates must hold permanent EU citizenship and passport. EU work visas or dual EU/non-EU nationality/passports are not eligible due to project security restrictions.
