Voor onze opdrachtgever in de omgeving Amsterdam zijn wij op zoek naar een Chapter Lead – SAS Data Engineering.
Are you a passionate data engineering leader ready to shape the future of data platforms and inspire top talent? We're looking for a Chapter Lead who can elevate a team of skilled engineers in building modern, robust SAS-based data solutions. In this role, you’ll drive both people development and the technical transformation of data integration and ETL frameworks in a dynamic, data-driven enterprise environment.
As Chapter Lead – SAS Data Engineering, you’ll be responsible for the personal growth, technical direction, and performance of a multidisciplinary team. You will guide the evolution of data engineering practices, define standards, and lead strategic decisions related to platform architecture, tooling, and vendor collaboration.
Your time will be divided between people leadership and hands-on contribution, ensuring your engineers are inspired, your environment is secure and maintainable, and your delivery processes are continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Lead and coach a team of experienced data engineers
✅ Identify skills gaps and ensure the chapter is well-staffed and future-proof
✅ Drive the evolution of SAS platforms, pipelines, and integration architectures
✅ Oversee delivery quality, reliability, and documentation in line with agile principles
✅ Play a key role in strategic decisions (e.g., technology, vendor, offshore choices)
✅ Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and external vendor teams
✅ Own the operational stability, compliance, and health of the SAS environments
✅ Work closely with Product Owners and Business Analyst Chapter Leads on team development and delivery planning
✅ Represent your chapter within the IT Area and Tribe leadership teams
✅ Promote a culture of learning, experimentation, and shared responsibility

Je profiel
We’re looking for a senior data engineering professional with excellent leadership skills, deep technical expertise in SAS, and the ability to coach and grow high-performing teams. You have a proactive attitude and a strong drive to improve both people and platforms.Required Skills and Experience
• 8+ years in Data Engineering roles, preferably with leadership experience
• Strong expertise in SAS technologies (SAS DI Studio, Base SAS, SAS EG, SAS VA)
• In-depth knowledge of ETL processes and data integration principles
• Proven experience with SQL and relational databases
• Familiarity with streaming and online data pipelines (Kafka experience is a plus)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation
• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments
• Ability to design and model data structures and schemas
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder management capabilities
• Hands-on and proactive in solving problems and supporting teams
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Fluent in English
Preferred Certifications
• Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
• Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
