Voor onze opdrachtgever in de omgeving Amsterdam zijn wij op zoek naar een Big Data Cloud Chapter Lead - Engineering Manager.
Are you an experienced and passionate engineer who thrives at the intersection of data and leadership? We’re looking for a Chapter Lead to guide our Big Data Cloud engineers and help elevate our Cloudera-based data platforms to new levels of excellence. You’ll split your time between hands-on engineering and leading a growing team, all while building scalable, secure, and automated Big Data solutions that power the organization.
As Chapter Lead – Big Data Cloud, you will lead a talented team of engineers focused on developing and managing enterprise-grade Big Data platforms. In this dual-role, you'll dedicate 60% of your time to coaching, mentoring, and strengthening the chapter, and 40% to contributing technically to the team’s solutions — from building automation to supporting large-scale data pipelines.
You’ll play a key role in defining how next-generation analytics capabilities are delivered within our hybrid cloud environment, while fostering a strong engineering culture centered on learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Leadership (60%)
✅ Guide and coach a team of Big Data Cloud engineers
✅ Foster a culture of innovation, feedback, and continuous learning
✅ Organize knowledge-sharing sessions and community-building initiatives
✅ Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and support career development plans
✅ Ensure team alignment with product goals and stakeholder expectations
✅ Promote craftsmanship, psychological safety, and technical excellence
🔹 Technical Delivery (40%)
✅ Improve and maintain automation scripts using Ansible
✅ Support the CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps
✅ Investigate and patch vulnerabilities across Big Data stacks
✅ Contribute to future-proofing the platform with managed service offerings
✅ Collaborate on infrastructure changes (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Knox, etc.)
✅ Help onboard and support internal consumers of the platform
